Others about Rok

Luis Conte - Grammy winner - percussionist

Composer Rok Golob is a young musical genious, working with him on "The Story of Laxeno" has been a totally great musical experience.

Katia Moraes - Brazilian singer, songwriter & dancer

Great musicians and composers have to be not only good on their musical creations, but good human beings. Rok is both.

Christopher Page – Composer/Producer/CD ROM Developer

This is to validate the unique talents of Rok Golob and to express a need for those superb skills. I have spent 25 years working in the USA as an established composer and producer. I sincerely hope that anyone reading this letter will realize the unique value of Rok's skills (especially after hearing his vas array of eclectic music!) due to his age and much higher standard of work that is normally achieved only usually by a composer with many more years of experience, also I am unaware of any composer in the USA who has mastered the ability to be so eclectic. I have need of Rok's skills with upcoming projects to compose and record orchestras for interactive media.

Joe Harnell – Film & TV composer

As a composer of film and television music, and as a recording artist (my album »Fly Me To The Moon« has received four Grammy Awards, and on three different occasions I was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Score), I am writing to highly recommend to you, Rok Golob, an enormously gifted young composer. He is proving his talent professionally, having composed many film scores, and having written and produced music for CD's. He is continually expanding his skills, and with his talent and versatility, I foresee him as having a brilliant future.

Elmer Bernstein – Composer of over 200 feature films, Oscar winner

Rok Golob demonstrated a superior ability to understand the delicate business of translating dramatic situations into music. He also works with great enthusiasm and verve. I think that Rok Golob's combination of energy and his ability as a composer will serve with distinction those who obtain his services.

Buddy Baker – Former Director of Department of Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television USC and Composer

Rok Golob graduated in composition at the Music Academy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He was very active as a composer and instrumentalist on the Slovenian music scene. He is accomplished on the keyboards, violin, guitar and bass guitar. He was a student in the USC Advanced Studies program in Scoring for Motion Pictures and TV. He has studied with composers David Raksin, Joe Harnell, Leonard Rosenman, Christopher Young, Elmer Bernstein...Rok's works include many different styles, including classical and jazz, pop and rock, and music for film, TV & radio. Your consideration of this talented young man will be greatly appreciated.

Martika – Singer (Toy Soldier's, I feel the earth move...)

This young man is an extremely talented musician whose artistic abilities far exceed the normal average. I feel he has very much to offer the entertainment industry in the ways of writing, performing and recording music.

Lynne Robin Green (music publisher)

I must say that Rok is indeed one of the most talented composer's that I have heard. His orchestral arranging-composer is really superb and the CD of his band - also was really excellent

Marko Letonja – Conductor

Despite his youth the Slovenian composer Rok Golob has proven to be one of our most fascinating and highly admired musicians. So far he has not specialized in a particular type of music, but has been extremely active in various music fields. The works written for the symphonic orchestra were successfully performed and also recorded by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been involved in the making of film and jazz-rock music as its author, arranger and performer. His works reveal great talent and dedication to music.

Dane Škerl – Composer

Rok Golob is a versatile musician. Very precise and accurate at his work, he is above all extremely inquisitive in finding the right option to express his music. During his studies he already attracted considerable attention with his modern classical works, and also realized his ambitions in the field of jazz and pop music on a very high professional level, being an active musician in different ensembles. His music focuses on the creation of mood, which is despite the application of absolute music techniques based on the sound as its component part, detached from the music program.

Tomaž Habe – Composer and Conductor

Rok Golob showed great creative potential very already in his high school years. His music is permeated by rhythmic elements, having strong rhythmic pulsation (elements of pop music and jazz), inventive melodiousness and a subtle feeling for orchestra coloring. He majored in violin and theory department at the High school of Music in Ljubljana and was also the concertmaster of the school symphonic orchestra in the school years 92/93. The structure of his compositions is evident, strongly supporting and using sonority of the orchestra, thus developing and also achieving its musical culmination. An important element of his music is harmony, which is despite its traditional elements sounds modern and invigorating. Without doubt popular music and jazz both exert a strong influence on his composing, for he was the leader of the jazz-rock band “Stop the band” and author of all its music. Owing to the quality and also the melodiousness of his music, four of his works have been successfully performed, myself. (Alkiona, Film overture, Mala suita, A river runs through it)

Ivo Petrič – Composer

The young Slovene composer Rok Golob found much favor with the younger generation of musicians. He is highly professional, full of fresh ideas, and increasingly creative. This is also a world premiere of his Concert for Flute, Harp, strings, vocals and two horns, entitled A Story from an Ancient World. Reflected in it are the young author’s experiences gained during his studies in USA.
