Rok's former bands

So what?
So What?

SO WHAT? was Rok's first real band. He formed it with his friend Teo still as teenagers. Together with Katarina, Robi, Damjan and Lojze they released their first cassette. The feeling of the first recorded songs was indescribable. Their original pop-rock music was performed on radio and TV stations. They also won the grand jury prize at the Spring on the Sea in 1992.

Stop the band

ROK GOLOB & STOP THE BAND was formed after the debut of Rokland and is Roks most accomplished band. It consisted of excellent players: Primož Flajšman, Igor Bezget, Goran Šabovič, Roman Ratej, Aleš Rendla, Rok Koritnik, Nino Mureškič, Miha Meglič in Matej Rihter. They played instrumental jazz-rock and had shows across Slovenia and various jazz festivals and also larger media events such as the Golden Awards, Victors, Slovenian Advertising Festival 1998. They were also the resident band of the TV show TNT, where they played with guests musicians such as: Primož Grašič, Žarko Živkovič, Saša Olenjuk, Nick Upper, Svetlana Makarovič, Miro Božič, Diego Barrios Ross, Saša Lošič, Bor Zuljan, Annie Sprinkle etc. They played thematic music corresponding to the guests and atmosphere in the studio. One of the highlights of the band was a joint show with world-renowned drummer Simon Phillips in Festival Hall in Ljubljana.

 Quatebriga?
Quatebriga

QUATEBRIGA, later QUATEBIXA was the first jazz-rock band that Rok joined. With Aleš Rendla, Nino de Gleria, Žarko Živkovic he toured successfully across Slovenia. Especially interesting were their journeys to Jazz festivals in France and Belgium. They played their own original material and also recorded a live concert for a television.

Rokulus String Quartet
ROKULUS STRING QUARTET

ROKULUS STRING QUARTET is still active, although not as much as in the recent years. The peculiar thing is that in a place of the usual cello there is an upright bass, therefore the music receives a more percussive and jazz flavor. Rok (1st violin and composer), Benjamin Izmajlov (2nd violin), Katja Krajnik (viola) and Tomaz Grom, Ziga Golob, Jaka Ropret, Sasa Bororvec(bass) play a blend of classical music, pop, jazz and fooling around. They perform around Slovenia and have recorded several radio and television programs. Unfortunately they have not recorded a CD yet.
