BANJO

Description:

The Banjo is a rather unusual instrument that Rok picked up by chance; the reason being it was required by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Marko Letonja suggested he played the banjo and mandolin on synthesizer, but Rok decided to play the real instruments instead. A tour of Ljubljana(Slovenia)-Wels-Vienna(Austria)-Bratislava(Slovakia) followed. An even bigger surprise followed later. He was asked to join the World Youth Orchestra, consisted of the finest young musicians in the world and joining usually involved a prolonged audition process. With the Orchestra, Rok toured through Switzerland and the Netherlands (at the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam) creating friends from all over the planet. The company is exquisite, for they are joined banjo by Bjork, Bobby McFerrin, Kent Nagano, Barbara Hendricks, Maxim Vengerov, Monty Alexander...not bad for banjo.
